Hanover, PA (June 29, 2022) – The first half of Speedweek is in the books, and Dylan Norris and the Gobrecht Motorsports team kicked things off on Night #1 at Williams Grove with a sixth place finish. Norris timed 11th quick out of 29 cars on hand with a lap of 17.046 seconds. Dylan would go on to finish third in his heat, lining him up 11th for the start of the 30-lap feature. Norris currently sits second in the season point standings at Williams Grove.
On Night #2 Speedweek moved to Lincoln Speedway where 47 cars signed in to compete in the Kevin Gobrecht Memorial. Norris timed 11th quick with a lap of 13.786 seconds in Flight #1 which included 24 cars. Dylan finished third in his heat, qualifying him for the feature. Norris lined up 12th for the 30-lap feature and crossed the line 13th.
Night #3 of Speedweek was scheduled for BAPS Motor Speedway, but with nearly 2 inches of rain falling, the event was canceled.
Speedweek headed back to Lincoln on Monday for Night #4. With 42 cars on hand, Norris timed 10th quick in Flight #2 against 21 cars with a lap of 14.200 seconds. Dylan finished fourth in his heat, qualifying him for the feature where he would line up 16th. Norris was involved in a red flag incident on the initial start of the feature, but rejoined the field for the restart. The caution came out on lap 21 when Norris spun in turn 2. Again, Dylan refired for the restart. Norris finished the feature 19th.
Norris added a new track to his resume on Tuesday when he competed at Grandview Speedway for Night #5. Dylan timed 19th quick out of 31 cars in his debut with a lap of 12.432 seconds. Norris lined up fifth for his heat and finished fifth, qualifying him for the 35-lap feature in his first trip to Grandview. Dylan lined up 20th for the $10,000 to win Hodnett Cup feature. The caution would wave on lap 7 for Norris when he spun in turn 2. Norris rejoined the field an finished the feature 20th.
After five nights of racing, Norris sits 9th in the overall Speedweek points standings with 289 points and is one of 17 drivers to have competed in every race so far.
UP NEXT: The team will continue their Speedweek campaign at Port Royal Speedway on Wednesday, June 29 with racing at 7:30PM. They will then head to Hagerstown on Thursday, June 30 with racing at 7:30PM. Then it’s back to Williams Grove on Friday, July 1 at 7:30PM for the crown jewel of Speedweek, the $15,000 to win Mitch Smith Memorial. Norris is tentatively schedule to compete again at Port Royal on Saturday, July 2 in the $10,000 to win Hodnett Classic scheduled for 7:30PM. Speedweek will conclude at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday, July 3 and the Gobrecht Motorsports team will be on hand for the $10,099 to win Opperman-Bogar-Heintzelman Memorial at 7:30PM.
