Hanover, PA (June 6, 2023) – Norris’ three-race weekend started off strong on Thursday night with the young-gun setting quick time in his group at BAPS Motor Speedway which put him second quickest overall, “To start the night at BAPS we were great. Probably the best we’ve ever been at the track.” In his heat race Norris drove from fourth to second on a one lane dominate track, putting him in the redraw. Dylan started on the pole for the start of the feature and settled into second at the drop of the green. About 10 laps into the feature Norris’ night went from great to not so great, “Around lap 10 the throttle stuck ¾ of the way open and just kept getting tougher to control as the track slowed down.” The throttle issue ended up with Dylan hitting the wall in turn 2 with one lap to go, bringing out the caution and ending his night.
The Gobrecht Motorsports Team regrouped and headed to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night for a handicapped show. Norris lined up fourth for his heat race and finished second, “We were able to go from fourth to second in the heat but the car did not feel very good. Our shock was messed up the whole night. It just never felt the car was good when we hit the track and every change we made didn’t help.” Dylan lined up sixth for the feature and despite fighting the car still pulled off a top 10 finish, crossing the line ninth. Once the team got back to the shop and put the shocks on the dyno they figured out the gremlin they had been fighting all night.
Saturday at Lincoln Speedway the night started with time trials for the Steve Smith Tribute Race, “I dropped the ball with the tire choice for time trials and got the car too tight which put us a little behind.” Norris timed 10th quick with a lap of 13.563 seconds. Dylan started third in his heat and finished second, “We had a decent car in the heat but were too loose to get the win. The track was still pretty fast and hard to pass.” Norris started the feature sixth and was scored third after rain ended the feature one lap shy of 35 laps, “In the feature we had the car too tight at the beginning and lost some spots on the start but towards the middle and end of the race I feel like we had the third best car.” Despite bad luck to start the weekend, Norris and the Gobrecht Motorsports Team finished the weekend strong with their sixth top 10 of the season at the track.
With the official kick-off of summer, and Speedweek right around the corner Dylan and the team are looking forward to more visits to victory lane, “I’m excited to get into the summer months, just wish we could get out of Pennsylvania and travel some, but I am looking forward to getting to a few different tracks during Speedweek and picking off a couple of wins.”
