Hanover, PA (June 6, 2022) – What was set to be a four-race weekend was shortened to three races with the Greg Hodnett Foundation Race slated for Thursday at BAPS Motor Speedway getting rained out. That meant Dylan started the weekend at Williams Grove on Friday night. Norris lined up fifth in his heat and finished fourth, lining him up 12th for the start of the 25-lap feature. Dylan would initially drop back to 13th at the start but worked his way back up to 12th on lap 5 and then got by Chase Dietz for 11th on lap 9. Norris crossed the line 11th, “Some people are pleased to run 11th in a 410 show but myself and this team hold ourselves to higher standards. Friday night every time we hit the track the tire we had on shrunk 2 inches causing the car to be ill handling.” Norris sits third in the season point standings at the Grove.
Saturday Lincoln hosted one of the marquee events of the season, the $19,000 to win Steve Smith Tribute race. With 47 cars on hand Norris timed third quick in his group, lining him up for the pole of his heat race. With his heat race win Dylan earned a spot in the redraw and drew the pole for the start of the 40-lap feature. Norris would lead the first 8 laps of the feature before being passed by Anthony Macri for the lead, “When you have a racetrack like that it’s almost always better to be running 2nd. We just didn’t find the rubber before Macri.” Norris would cross the line fifth and sits fourth in the season point standings.
In a make-up event from earlier this season, Dylan Norris competed at Path Valley on Sunday night. The night started out with a bad pill draw for a time trial spot and timed 17th quick out of 19 cars. Dylan lined up 14th for the feature and finished 12th, “Sunday was a struggle. The pill draw for time trials was important and we pulled a terrible pill. Had a decent car all night, but the way track conditions were if you tried to slide someone to pass them you ended up getting passed by the car behind you. Was cool to race at a new place though.”
UP NEXT: The team will return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 10 at 7:30PM. Dylan will also be at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, June 11 for the $5,000 to win Fallen Firefighters Race scheduled for 7:30PM. The Gobrecht Motorsports team will conclude the weekend at the ImPOSSEible race at Kutztown on Sunday, June 12 starting at 6PM.
