Hanover, PA (May 2, 2022) – Yet another potential three-race weekend was cut short due to Mother Nature, but Dylan Norris and the Gobrecht Motorsports team made the best of it coming home with a 12th place finish at Williams Grove and a top 10 at Lincoln, “I feel this was one of our ‘worst’ weekends but to come out of it with a 12th and 6th shows you what kind of year we’re having,” said Norris.
With 19 cars in competition at the Grove on Friday night, everyone qualified for the feature out of their heats. As the season point leader Norris lined up eighth in his heat race and finished seventh. His heat race finish lined him up 14th for the start of the feature. Norris was up to ninth on lap 3 but found himself back in 12th two laps later. Dylan fell as far back as 13th but battled with TJ Stutts and took 12th on lap 21. With his finish, Norris now sets second in the season point standings at the Grove, just 10 points behind Danny Dietrich.
Saturday night with a field of 29 sprint cars on hand, Dylan lined up sixth in the first heat and won, earning him a handicapped spot for the feature. Norris’ shared the following on his successful heat race, “Just being more aggressive on the start and the racetrack was good enough to be able to race in the heats, so that they guys in the back could move towards the front.”
Dylan lined up sixth for the 30-lap feature. Norris was up to second by lap 3 and was challenging for the lead early in the race. Dylan had speed but lost spots when he left the door open trying to pass in the corners. Norris would finish sixth, scoring his second top 10 finish at Lincoln this season. Dylan sits fifth in the season point standings after Saturday.
The World of Outlaw’s first trip of the year to Central PA is right around the corner and Norris is looking forward to competing against the traveling series, “I feel pretty good rolling into the Outlaw shows. This is the fastest we’ve ever been this close to an Outlaw show and I feel our time trial program has gotten a lot better. Our main goal will be to make every Outlaw show and be competitive each night.” Dylan and the team will have two opportunities to tune-up for their visit this coming weekend.
